About Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the treatment of teeth and jaws that are not in alignment. Orthopedists focus on correcting issues like misalignment, crooked or crowded teeth to help their patients maintain healthy gums as well confidence with a beautiful smile!

Orthodontic appliances like clear plastic aligners (commonly known as Invisalign), metal brackets, or lingual braces, work by slowly and constantly moving teeth into a proper position until they are aligned. Conventional braces can be made of metal, ceramic, or plastic, and some are practically invisible. In some cases, seeing an orthodontist for preventative diagnosis and care can help avoid more costly dental procedures later.

faq

Orthodontists are experts in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of facial abnormalities and other oral problems. Several treatment options are available here to correct bite, crooked teeth, and jaw alignment. Orthodontists receive additional training after completing dentistry. When going for orthodontic treatment with braces, you need to make sure that you are treated by an orthodontist. Usually, orthodontists perform treatment to straighten teeth, they can also help correct misaligned bite and treat painful bite. Just have an assessment by fixing an appointment to the Orthodontist, you can know in more detail the treatment done to you by the Orthodontist.

When your braces are first put on, you may not feel any discomfort, but as time headway you may feel some sensitivity of the teeth and discomfort of the cheeks and gums. We recommend you take the medication that you would normally take for a headache, but stay away from antiinflammatory drugs as these effect the rate of movement of your teeth.

Some people be afflicted by mouth ulcers if the braces are rubbing on the inside of your cheek. A mouth rinse, such as Difflam C ®, may help to ease the discomfort, and Kenalog in Orobase® is useful to protect the tissues of the cheeks, but is hard to apply. If you have feel that your braces are rubbing, apply dental wax to any areas of the braces which are causing discomfort, and let us know at your next appointment.

For the first few days, you should have a simple diet of soft foods. After a few days, you may become more adventurous, but during treatment you won’t need to change your diet too much. Just make sure to avoid foods and drinks like gum and gum, lollipops, caramel, and hard things like raw carrot sticks, hard crackers, corn on the cob, and ice cubes. Make sure you don’t chew on pens, pencils, or fingernails either. During your wellness appointment, we’ll give you a list of foods to avoid.

It depends on the severity of your orthodontic needs and the equipment we need to use to straighten your teeth. At Grade 1 Orthodontics, we know that orthodontic treatment is an investment. That’s why we offer competitive treatment rates and interest-free payment plans to help keep your orthodontic treatment costs affordable.
